Grant County Sheriff's Office recommends safety measures for GC Fair

MOSES LAKE — The Grant County Sheriff’s Office will be giving out free wristbands to parents and guardians who stop by the GCSO booth at the Grant County Fair. Family members will be asked to write the phone number of the child’s caregiver on the wristband to make it easier to reunite children and their families if somebody goes astray.

It’s one of the safety tips released Monday by Kyle Foreman, GCSO public information officer.

Foreman also suggested that parents and caregivers take pictures of their children when entering the fairgrounds, another way to identify any children that get lost.

The GCSO will have a station near the Purple Gate, across the walkway from the 4-H building. The Purple Gate is at the south end of the fairgrounds.

“People can go there for help if they need it,” Foreman said.

Fairgrounds Manager Jim McKiernan said crews from Lifeline Ambulance will be stationed on the grounds to respond to medical emergencies. It will be near the GCSO booth.

The fair starts today and runs through Saturday, and Foreman said GCSO deputies will out and about on the grounds while the fair is open. Both Foreman and McKiernan encouraged people to report any suspicious activity seen.

The sheriff’s office also will have a booth in the Commercial Building where people can meet and talk with deputies, Foreman said.
