DNR investigating fish kills in south-central Wisconsin, including Yahara River
Heavy rains may be to blame for the death of fish in four south-central Wisconsin counties. The state Department of Natural Resources said it is investigating reports of fish kills in the Buffalo Lake Watershed near Montello that covers parts of Marquette, Green Lake and Columbia counties about 65 miles northeast of Madison and in the Yahara River in Stoughton.

MADISON, Wis. (WSAW) - The Wisconsin DNR is investigating high numbers of fish deaths in two different locations in south central Wisconsin. The first is in the Buffalo Lake Watershed in Marquette, Green Lake, and Columbia counties. The second is on the Yahara River in Stoughton. Due to recent heavy rain, additional reports of fish mortalities are likely, and the DNR will continue to investigate reports as they come in.

City of Lodi renews county waste contract as rebuild continues
The City of Lodi is renewing its contract with Columbia County Solid Waste through 2029 as the department rebuilds from last year's recycling center fires. At the Lodi Common Council's July 16 meeting the board was presented with options to renew their contract with Columbia County for solid waste and recycling pickup for one, three, or five years.
