    No hitters and home runs: Vote for the Columbia area boys athlete of the week

    It's once again that time to vote for the Columbia area boys athlete of the week for April 29-May 3.

    Here are the candidates:

    Jack Beck, Columbia Central: Beck was 3-for-5 with a home run, a double, four RBIs and two additional runs in a 17-5 win over Spring Hill last Thursday. Beck was also 2-for-3 with a walk-off double, two runs, a stolen base and RBI in a 7-6 win last Monday.

    Matthew Thomas, Columbia Central: Thomas was 3-for-4 with a home run, a double, two RBIs and an additional run last Thursday. Thomas also went 2-for-3 with a double, run, RBI and stolen base in an 11-3 win last Wednesday.

    Ethan Richardson, Culleoka: Richardson struck out 14 batters, while allowing six hits and one earned run in eight innings pitched last Thursday.

    Carter Daniel, Loretto: Daniel pitched a no hitter, striking out 10 batters in six innings in a 2-0 win last Friday. Daniel also went 3-for-4 with a double, four runs, four RBIs and two stolen bases last Thursday.

    Clint Seymore, Loretto: Seymore went 7-for-10 on the week with two home runs, a triple, two doubles, four RBIs, five additional runs and a stolen base as Loretto went 3-0.

    Casen Springer, Loretto: Springer was 4-for-4 with two home runs, five RBIs and two additional runs in an 11-0 win over Lawrence County last Tuesday.

    Carter Edwards, Richland: Edwards was 2-for-4 with a home run, a triple, four RBIs and an additional run in a 12-0 win over Santa Fe last Thursday.

    Tucker Mayo, Richland: Mayo was 3-for-4 with a home run, a double and three RBIs in a 14-7 win over Hickman County last Tuesday.

    Bryce Miller, Richland: Miller threw a no-hitter, striking out eight batters in five innings last Thursday. He was also 2-for-2 with a double, run and a stolen base.

    Will Chladny, Summit: Chladny struck out 12 batters in seven innings pitched, allowing four hits and no runs in a 1-0 loss to Nolensville last Thursday.

    I thought the COLUMBIA DAILY HERALD was for COLUMBIA and MAURY COUNTY? All these “region schools” (out of county) have their own rewards and news/sports coverages and I can guarantee you they DONT INCLUDE MAURY COUNTY ATHLETES. Why are our student athletes competing against them!!
