    Columbia area spring sports Week 11 top performers: Mason Tidwell homers send Loretto to state tournament

    It's Week 11 of the high school spring season and the TSSAA playoffs are in full swing. Here are the top performers for high school baseball and softball in the Columbia area.

    THURSDAY

    Baseball

    Zach Staggs, Summertown: Staggs went 2-for-3 with a double and a run in a 5-2 loss to Huntingdon in a Class 2A sectional game.

    Cecil Williams, Summertown: Williams was 2-for-3 with a double in the 5-2 loss.

    Grayson Burleson, Summertown: Burleson pitched six innings, striking out five while allowing five hits and one earned run in a 1-0 loss to Huntingdon in a Class 2A sectional game.

    WEDNESDAY

    Baseball

    Knox Love, Columbia Academy: Love went 1-for-2 with a double, run and a stolen base in a 3-1 win over Silverdale in the first leg of the DII-A state quarterfinal.

    Gunner Skelton, Columbia Academy: Skelton pitched a complete game, striking out six batters while allowing three hits and one earned run.

    Jackson Lee, Columbia Academy: Lee pitched a complete game, striking out 13 batters while allowing two hits and no runs in a 2-0 win over Silverdale to advance to the DII-A state tournament.

    Andy Reed, Columbia Academy: Reed was 2-for-2 with a triple and a run.

    Casen Springer, Loretto: Springer was 2-for-2 with a triple, RBI, three runs and a stolen base in a 10-0 win over Camden Central in the first leg of the Class 2A sectional series. He was also 1-for-3 with a double, a stolen base and two runs in a 13-5 win.

    Mason Tidwell, Loretto: Tidwell went 2-for-3 with a home run, a double and two RBIs in a 10-0 win. He was also 3-for-3 with a home run, a double, a stolen base, six RBIs and three additional runs in a 13-5 win to secure a state tournament berth. He struck out 11 batters in five innings in the 13-5 win.

    Clint Seymore, Loretto: Seymore went 1-for-2 with a home run, stolen base and an additional run in the 10-0 win. He also went 2-for-3 with a double, RBI, stolen base and three runs in the 13-5 win.

    Carter Daniel, Loretto: Daniel struck out 10 batters in five innings pitched, allowing one hit and no runs in the 10-0 win.

    Miles Moore, Loretto: Moore was1-for-2 with a run, a stolen base and two RBIs in the 10-0 win. He was also 2-for-5 with a double, three RBIs and a run in the 13-5 win.

    Bryce Miller, Richland: Miller pitched six innings, striking out six while allowing six hits and one earned run in a 1-0 loss to McKenzie in the first leg of the Class 1A sectional series. He was also 2-for-4 with two doubles and an RBI in a 3-2 loss in the second leg.

    Colton Trimble, Richland: Trimble was 3-for-4 with a double in the 3-2 loss.

    TUESDAY

    No Columbia area teams in action.

    MONDAY

    Softball

    Ava Shrader, Richland: Shrader pitched a complete game, striking out 12 batters while giving up five hits and three earned runs in a 3-2 loss to Huntland in the Class 1A regional semifinal. She was also 1-for-3 with an RBI.

    Katelyn Bass, Richland: Bass went 1-for-3 with a double, run and RBI.

    McKenzie Runnels, Summertown: Runnels was 1-for-3 with a two-RBI home run in a 3-2 win over Forrest in the Class 2A regional semifinal.

    Olivia Woods, Summertown: Woods was 2-for-2 with a run in the 3-2 win over Forrest.

    Samantha Malcolm, Summit: Malcolm was 1-for-2 with a three-RBI home run in a 15-5 loss to Lincoln County in a Class 4A regional semifinal.

    Ashlyn Easley, Summit: Easley went 2-for-2 with a double and a run.

    Audrey Cathey, Summit: Cathey was 1-for-2 with a double and two runs.
