    Boone County at 'critical stage' in master plan process. How to provide comments

    Boone County is reaching a "critical stage" in the master plan development process and so two open house options are available for residents to review three draft land use plan options and provide feedback on recommendations.

    The first meeting is a virtual open house 7-8:30 p.m. Aug. 21. Registration is required through the OurBoone.com website . A video of the meeting will be available on the website a few days after the meeting. There also in an in-person opportunity 4:30-7 p.m. Sept. 5 in the Boone County Commission chambers in the Boone County Government Center, 801 E. Walnut St.

    The in-person meeting has no formal presentation and the public is welcome to drop in anytime during the 2 1/2 meeting to gather information and provide input.

    Boone County is working on updating its master plan "with the intention of developing a vision for our communities and establishing countywide priorities for future growth and land use planning for the next 10 to 20 years," the county said in a news release.

    The master plan process is separate, but is running adjacent to a joint city and county affordable housing study .
