Three-star safety Dyllon Williams has decommitted from Missouri football’s Class of 2025, per a post to his X account Thursday evening. He had been verbally committed since June 11.

Williams, who is listed at 6 foot 2 and is from Demopolis, Alabama, is the No. 61-ranked safety in the 2025 recruiting cycle, per 247Sports, and is the No. 32-ranked player in his home state.

He is the second player to decommit from MU coach Eli Drinkwitz’s next class since the Tigers went on a hot recruiting run in the summer. Four-star wide receiver Jayvan Boggs was first, flipping to UCF, which is close to his hometown of Cocoa, Florida. Williams, on Thursday, became the second player to back out of his verbal commitment.

The Tigers’ Class of 2025 rankings didn’t take too substantial a hit with Williams no longer on board. Mizzou has the No. 17-ranked class in the country on 247Sports’ composite rankings, down one spot overnight. That ranks ninth in the SEC, with nine four-star prospects and seven three-star pledges still on board.

Missouri has 16 players still verbally committed to its next class of recruits, including a four-star safety in East St. Louis prospect Charles Bass.

Mizzou is set to lose three players from its main rotation of safeties at the end of this season, as starter Joseph Charleston and key backups Tre’Vez Johnson and Sidney Williams Sr. are set to exhaust their eligibility.

Even with those three set to leave, Mizzou has a solid core of experienced players able to return.

Daylan Carnell, who plays the ‘Star’ hybrid linebacker/safety spot for MU, is expected to return. Marvin Burks Jr. and Phillip Roche are sophomores this season and can return, as can Trajen Greco, who became one of MU’s first rookies to burn a redshirt this season after carving out a special teams role.

Two more current Mizzou freshmen can play the position, but Austyn Dendy repped at running back in fall camp and is expected to play that position moving forward. Three-star freshman Jackson Hancock also is expected to return next season and is on the roster as a safety.

The Tigers have offered four-star defensive back Byron Baldwin out of Baltimore. He recently decommitted from Indiana, and per multiple reports is a top target for both Mizzou and Colorado. Baldwin is the No. 19-ranked safety in his class.
