    The University of Missouri homecoming is here. The Mizzou Tigers will take on Auburn University.

    Whether looking to enjoy homecoming celebrations or looking to avoid it all together, these are the expected traffic impacts Friday and Saturday in Columbia:

    Campus decorations

    Greektown on the MU campus will be pedestrian only from 6 p.m. to roughly 9:30 p.m. Friday. This will allow guests to enjoy the variety of interactive displays, skits and other activities .

    Traffic impacts include:

    • Rollins Street from South Providence Road to Tiger Avenue;
    • Burnam Avenue from South Providence Road to Richmond Avenue;
    • Curtis Avenue from Burnam Avenue to Kentucky Boulevard;
    • Richmond Avenue from Rollins Street to Kentucky Boulevard; and
    • Kentucky Boulevard from South Providence Road to Tiger Avenue.

    Homecoming parade; busing and game-day shuttles

    The MU Homecoming parade starts bright and early at 8 a.m. Saturday going from campus starting on Rollins Street to downtown Columbia on Broadway between Ninth and Fifth streets.

    The route from Rollins street goes north on Hitt Street until University Avenue, where it turns west, before turning north at Ninth street where it travels until it hits the noted Broadway route.

    A sensory friendly section of the route is on South Fifth Street between Broadway and Cherry Street.

    Drivers should use caution and yield to parade participants. Traffic delays are expected along the parade's route.

    The parade also means the city's transit system GoCOMO will have a delayed start Saturday. Fixed-route bus and Paratransit services will begin at noon.

    After the parade is over GoCOMO is offering free game day shuttles for those going to the game. Buses will take passengers from the downtown area to the roundabout at the intersection of Tiger Avenue and Hospital Drive from 8:30-10:45 a.m. Return trips to the downtown area start at the end of the third quarter. More information is available by visiting the game day routes page of GoCOMOTransit.com .

    Downtown parking

    Columbia has six downtown parking garages, which will be free all weekend for homecoming. Parking is allowed in both free and permit spots, regardless if a person has a permit or not. Restricted or reserved parking spaces still are not available. Parking enforcement in the garages ends 6 p.m. Friday and begins again 8 a.m. Monday. The roof of the Fifth and Walnut parking garage will closed to vehicles and barricades will be in place. Roof access also will be barricaded in stairwells and elevators will not go the top floor.
