STATEWIDE -- A single defective content update by a cybersecurity technology company named CrowdStrike caused havoc for Microsoft users. The outage impacted banks, businesses, airports and countless other institutions across the world, including here around central Maine. Friday, July 19th was yet another reminder of how much the world is dependent on technology, and how one defect, can cause a global ripple effect. It was a simple update that rendered tech-ware to stop working around the world.
