Park Center/Columbia Heights/Maranatha baseball took part in the Section 5AAAA tournament last week as the seventh seed, facing second seed Rogers and sixth seed Spring Lake Park.

The Pirates began their journey with an eventful battle May 28 against Rogers, which the Royals won 11-6. This result moved PCM to the elimination bracket.

The Pirates were paired with Spring Lake Park for a first round battle, which the Panthers eventually won 9-1 to knock PCM out of the tournament and end their impressive season.

PCM ended the season with a 12-10 overall record. They were 10-4 in Tri-Metro Conference play, marking one of their best showings in over a decade.

The team will graduate several seniors this season, including Gresyn Rennie, Will Severson, Ty Lovcik, Randall Zhagui Jimbo, Elyjah Sweet and Luke Hoven. The group reflects well on the way PCM brought together talent from all three participating schools this season, from the Maranatha duo of Lovcik and Severson, to Park Center mutli-sport athletes like Cullen O’Rourke and Sweet.
