    Government offices closed for July 4; trash services, public transit affected for some cities

    COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

    State, city and county offices will be closed Thursday in observance of the holiday and additional closures will occur on Friday for some offices.

    Gov. Mike Parson issued an executive order on Monday to close state offices for Friday, July 5.

    Boone County Government offices will be closed on Thursday and Friday, according to a Monday press release. The courthouses in Boone and Callaway counties will be closed both days, according to a release from the 13th Circuit Court.

    COLUMBIA

    The City of Columbia’s offices will also be closed on July 4, but will be open on July 5, according to Friday press release. Curbside trash will not be picked up and will be delayed one day the rest of the week, the release says.

    Go COMO Transit will not run normal routes, but will provide a shuttle to Stephens Lake Park from the city’s parking garages for the Fire in the Sky event , the release says. Parking meters will not be enforced.

    The Activity & Recreation Center will be open 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Thursday. The Albert-Oakland Family Aquatic Center, Douglass Family Aquatic Center and Lake of the Woods Pool will be open from noon-5 p.m.

    JEFFERSON CITY

    JEFFTRAN – the Jefferson City's public transit service – will not operate on Thursday or Friday. However, trash services will not be disrupted.

    FULTON

    The City of Fulton recognizes Thursday and Friday as holidays, according to the city’s Solid Waste calendar . Trash that is normally picked up on Thursday will be collected on Wednesday. Trash that is picked up on Friday will be collected on Saturday.

    BOONVILLE

    Trash will not be picked up on Thursday and all refuse pickup for the rest of the week will be delayed one day, according to the city’s website.

    Emergency services for all government entities will not be affected.
