COLUMBIA, S.C. (WSPA) – Former South Carolina women’s basketball player, Laeticia Amihere, has been selected to represent Canada in the Paris Olympic Games on July 26 through August 11.

This will be Amihere’s second selection for the Olympic Games, after being one of 12 players selected to represent the country in 2020. She will join her fellow Gamecock alum, A’ja Wilson, to make it the sixth-straight Olympics with at least one Gamecock women’s basketball alum.

Amihere made her debut for Canada’s National Team in the 2015 FIBA u16 AmeriCup. She has participated in seven events with the Senior National Team since 2020. Her most notable appearances have been in the four Olympic Qualifying Tournaments that helped Canada reach the Olympics in both 2020 and 2024.

During the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, Amihere became the first Gamecock women’s basketball player to play in the Olympics while still enrolled at South Carolina. Throughout her international career, Amihere has averaged 7.4 points and 4.7 rebounds per game.
