Roanoke (Virginia) North Cross School’s Jase Rhodes made his way to South Carolina for the Gamecocks’ last camp of the summer back on Fridya.

“I got to talk to Coach Gray, and I got to talk to Coach Beamer, too,” Rhodes told GamecockCentral.com.

The 5-foot-10, 180-pounder already had an offer from the Gamecocks heading into the camp, so there was familiarity.

Last Friday’s session represented an opportunity to reconnect and check out some aspects of the program that Rhodes had not yet seen.

“We got into good conversations, and I was able to see the facility, and it was good as well. I’m definitely coming back.”

In addition to his offer from South Carolina, Rhodes also carries scholarships from Penn State and Tennessee.

“I would say it has picked back up over the last two weeks,” the junior said of his recruitment. “I know I’ve been talking to Uva, App State, Coastal sometimes, and then JMU.”

What was the message from the South Carolina staff during Rhodes’ campus visit?

“I wasn’t able to finish the camp, because I rolled my ankle. Coach Beamer was like, it’s good, I know I’m going to see you again.”

Rhodes plans a trip to Virginia to begin the 2024 season and noted that he also wants to take trips to the Power 4 programs that have offered: Tennessee, Penn State, and South Carolina.

“I would say good coaching and recovery services,” Rhodes said of what he is hoping to find in a college program. Academic-wise, a good engineering program, because that’s what I’d like to major in.”
