COLUMBIANA, Ohio (WKBN) – One of many fundraisers for a new inclusive and accessible playground at Firestone Park in Columbiana was held Friday evening.

The money raised will go toward redoing the Funland Playground so people of all abilities can enjoy it.

About 250 people showed up for bounce houses, food trucks, a giant slide and a pool party. The theme was family fun for a good cause.

So far they’ve raised about $40,000 of the $1.2 million needed.

“We want the turf to be accessible so children and adults that have wheelchairs, mobility aids or have issues with walking will be able to utilize the playground. We’re going to have sensory equipment and musical equipment. We’ll also be having a wheelchair swing,” said Stephanie Kale with the playground project.

You can donate and keep up with future fundraisers on the playground’s website.
