Broncos Super Bowl 50 champ Shaq Barrett retires after 10-year career
Following a 10-year career in the NFL, former Denver Broncos pass rusher Shaq Barrett has announced his retirement from football at age 31. “It’s time for me to hang it up,” Barrett wrote on his Instagram page on Saturday. “It’s been a great ride and I appreciate everything that came with it over the years. I’m ready to shift my full focus to my wife and kids and helping them realize [their] dreams and catch em.”
Young boy struck by vehicle in Firestone Park July 11 has died
The young boy who was struck by a vehicle while riding his bike in Firestone Park on July 11 has died, according to the Summit County Medical Examiner's Office. Kingston Solomon, 7, passed away the next day, July 12, at Akron Children's Hospital at 2:35 p.m. His death was from blunt force trauma to the head and was ruled an accident, Gary Guenther of the medical examiner's office said.

Red Sox closer Kenley Jansen had a rough weekend against his former team in Los Angeles, but he’ll get a few days off to refocus, and for a perfectly understandable reason. Jansen revealed to reporters on Sunday (via Alex Speier) that he’s not making the trip with the Red Sox to Denver, where they’ll take on the Colorado Rockies in a three-game set at Coors Field from Monday-Wednesday. While Jansen isn’t dealing with a new injury, he explained that he’s staying away from the thin Colorado air due to prior health concerns involving his heart.
