Savannah Schoenherr reflects on NCAA Gymnastics career

COLUMBUS (WRBL) – Savannah Schoenherr was born in Columbus, and began her Gymnastics career at the early age of four in the Fountain City. However she would begin further training in Athens, and would eventually move all around the country as she prepared to train for the Olympics.

Though her training would be interrupted due to a fracture in her back. That would set her Gymnastics career back, but after recuperating she would sign a full scholarship to the University of Florida. At Florida, she was a multiple time All-American as well as an SEC Champion.

Throughout her time in college, Schoenherr faced new challenges and opportunities in collegiate sports. The Covid-19 Pandemic began as Schoenherr was an upper classman. She would have to wait out the Pandemic before finding out she would be granted another season. And following the Pandemic, Schoenherr would take her talents to LSU through the transfer portal.

Though her time at LSU was brief, as it was only her final season, it was her most memorable. The team would go on to win the 2024 National Championship, and Schoenherr was no small part of that success. She credits her teammates and the LSU staff, but is also proud of all she has accomplished.

Though she is still navigating the avenues she may take going forward, Schoenherr does plan to stay around the sport of Gymnastics. She states that she loves being around athletes because of their high work ethic.
