COLUMBUS, Ga. ( WRBL ) — In February, the first of five historic homes from Westville was relocated to the Historic District in Downtown Columbus. Now, more homes are making the move, but when will they arrive?

Justin Krieg, director of planning and programs for Historic Columbus, explained the project is taking longer than anticipated due to major delays.

Krieg believes all five homes will be relocated by the fall.

The homes are part of a project to bring life back to the historic district where a non-functioning fountain once stood.

While the delays are causing some bumps in the road, Krieg says they have allowed the Historic Columbus Foundation to work on other projects in the mean time.

The improvements to the promenade will create a venue for outdoor events and weddings.

Krieg says the improvements to the historic district are part of a plan to bring vibrancy to an area that may not have been living up to its full potential.
