Rain chances take a little breather while staying mostly cloudy and humid

COLUMBUS, Ga. (WRBL) — Humid and damp start to the morning after picking up a good amount of rainfall yesterday. Across the southeast there are still a few showers across the southeast, as the stalled front remains draped, but showers and storms back off on coverage for this afternoon to just the stray variety.

Although we see a break from the scattered coverage of thunderstorms, temperatures will still climb into the low 90s with heat index values in the upper 90s. That humidity has gone nowhere as the tropical moisture train from the gulf continues across the southeast.

Friday, as we close out the week, will see similar conditions. Just stray showers and thunderstorms while temperatures may make a run for the mid 90s given that we will see a little more sunshine across the deep south. Stalled front finally washes out as a strong cold front drops in the north and northeast.

Weekend rain chances ramp back up to isolated in coverage as the front approaches. Temperatures will remain hanging out around the 90 degree mark.

Tropics remain quiet as dust from the Saharan Air Layer is keeping tropical activity suppressed at least through the next seven days.
