Allen Lima Leadership celebrations 35 years of developing adult and youth leaders in our community. The signature Allen Lima Leadership class runs once a year, from September to June. Executive Director Matt Childers told us that participants spend one full day each month on themes such as education, agriculture, economic development and criminal justice. Part of each day is dedicated to training in advanced leadership principles. Classes also develop and execute community service projects. 30-35 adults enroll in ALL each year. "One of the things participants say is the most important to them is not only the leadership component, but the networking and connecting." Matt told us that nearly 40 high school sophomores and juniors register for the ALL youth program every year. It involves, educates and challenges youth to reach their fullest potential as leaders. The Lima Rotary Club is one of the sponsors of the ALL youth program and hosts its annual graduation each spring.
Back to School Block Party to return
LIMA — The South Lima Community Development Corporation’s Back to School Block Party will be from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 10 at Philippian Baptist Church, 190 S. Eighth St., Lima. Children must be present to receive donations of school supplies, uniforms, coats, gloves and hats.
