The cross country season got underway as Mercer and Auglaize Counties hosted invitationals for their schools. 17-year-old in Ohio fatally electrocuted after walking into camper barefoot
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) — A 17-year-old girl in Ohio was fatally electrocuted after walking into a camper barefoot, officials said. CBS affiliate WTOL-TV reported that first responders were called to Oak Street in Toledo around 8 p.m. on Sunday for a report of a person in cardiac arrest. At the scene, officials learned that 17-year-old Olivia Bright was electrocuted by "faulty wiring" in an empty lot outside her home, WTOL-TV reported. She was taken to a local hospital, where she died. WTOL-TV reported the investigation found that the 17-year-old girl was walking into a camper on the north side of the property barefoot and was fatally electrocuted. Investigators said the camper was unplugged and rain from the night of the incident likely contributed to the electrocution. Officials also said the camper was not energized and there was no evidence of charring on the door or the camper.
Local basketball star acquitted of domestic violence charge
TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) - A local basketball star has been acquitted of domestic violence charges. Former Glass City Wranglers player Christopher Darrington was accused of suffocating a woman by covering her mouth and nose with a pillow last summer. SPRINGFIELD, Ohio (WDTN) — A Springfield police officer has been placed on leave following an OVI stop — and this is not a first for the officer. Judge Warren's last day on the bench at Lima Municipal Court will be September 5, 2024. The Bluffton native has been practicing law for over 50 years. Over the course of his career, he has worked on every kind of case from civil disputes to high-profile murders, presided over more than 300 jury trials, and co-founded the Worth Center.
