COLUMBUS, Ind. — A Columbus man was arrested earlier this month after he was found to have around 19 grams of methamphetamine during a traffic stop.

At around 12:07 a.m. on July 2, a deputy with the sheriff’s office initiated a traffic stop in the area of N U.S. 31 and N Horizon Drive. The deputy then conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle, where a glass smoking device with residue was reportedly located.

One of the people inside the car, later identified as Cowan, reportedly told the deputy that the pipe was his. The release said that Cowan also told deputies that he had methamphetamine in his left pants pocked. Around 19 grams of methamphetamine was then collected from Cowan.

The release said that Cowan is currently in the Bartholomew County Jail on a $41,000 bond. An initial hearing for Cowan occurred Thursday afternoon.
