COLUMBUS, Ind. — Two women are recovering in central Indiana hospitals after being hit over the weekend by a driver on State Road 46 in Columbus.

Columbus Police Department crews were called around 9:30 p.m. Sunday to W. Jonathan Moore Pike just east of Two Mile House Road for a car crash involving two pedestrians.

CPD said officers arrived to find two women, ages 41 and 68, suffering from injuries. A preliminary investigation shows that the women were hit by an 18-year-old male driving a 2011 Nissan Altima eastbound on SR-46.

The 68-year-old woman was taken to Columbus Regional Hospital for minor injuries to her leg and hip. The 41-year-old woman was also initially taken to CRH for injuries to her hip and leg, but was later taken by Life Line to St. Vincent for further treatment.

CPD said that the investigation into the crash is ongoing. No other information was immediately provided.
