Contracts awarded for two upcoming turnpike construction projects in Topeka
TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - Contracts have been awarded for two upcoming turnpike construction projects in Topeka, Kan. According to the Kansas Turnpike Authority, Contract No. 8094 has been awarded for drainage rehabilitation at mile marker 178, I-470/KTA. The contract was awarded to Bettis Asphalt & Construction, Inc., Topeka, Kan., for $143,615.

Blown up toilet forces City of Derby to close park restrooms
DERBY, Kan. (KWCH) - The City of Derby has closed all park restrooms through July 5 due to recent vandalism. “Our beloved restroom at Hand Park has fallen victim to some overzealous Fourth of July celebrations,” said the city. “It seems someone mistook our facilities for a fireworks launchpad, and while we appreciate the spirit, the bathroom didn’t quite survive the festivities.”
