An arrest has been made in the death of a woman who was hit by an e-bike in early August on the Dillingham Street Bridge, according to police.

Police said a 17-year-old was arrested and charged with second-degree vehicular homicide and riding a bike on a sidewalk.

The incident occurred on Aug. 5 when an e-bike hit Lisa Finan, 44, and she struck her head, according to Muscogee County Coroner Buddy Bryan.

Finan died Aug. 20 at Columbus Hospice House, according to her obituary from McMullen Funeral home.

Bryan told the Ledger-Enquirer that Finan was standing on the bridge watching the sunset when the incident occurred, but a police report states multiple witnesses said Fanin was running along the north sidewalk when she was hit in the back by the cyclist.

Witnesses estimated the cyclist was going between 20 and 30 mph on the e-bike, according to the police report.

“At that point she had a traumatic brain injury,” Bryan said.

The teen is scheduled to appear in Recorder’s Court at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, according to police.
