Battle of the Badges blood drive to take place in Columbus

Columbus Fire Department to sponsor competitive blood drive

COLUMBUS—A competitive blood drive will take place next month where donors will be able to vote for their favorite fire departments, police departments, EMS teams and more.

The Polk County Battle of the Badges will offer an opportunity for the community to gather for a good cause and represent their favorite local heroes that work hard for the community everyday.

Interested donors can schedule an appointment using the sponsor word “Polk” at RedCrossBlood.org or by calling 1-800-RED-CROSS. After scheduling an appointment donors will be able to vote for their agency of choice. Also, donors who give blood during the month of August can receive a $20 gift card to Amazon. Walk-ins are also welcome.

The event will take place in the Steps to Hope community room from 1 to 5:30 p.m. and is sponsored by the Town of Columbus Fire Department.

Steps to Hope is located at 60 Ward St. in Columbus.
