While the Hawkeyes only lost by eight points, despite Caitlin Clark’s magnificent effort, where she had 45 points and seven assists, the biggest story was actually what happened after the final buzzer sounded. Any time a college team emerges with a major upset victory on their home court, fans can’t help but rush the field of play. That’s exactly what happened when the Buckeyes defeated the Hawkeyes 100-92 in a thrilling overtime win at Value City Arena. Yet, Iowa’s Caitlin Clark hadn’t had a chance to get back to the locker room yet, and when fans began rushing the court, the 2022-23 AP Player of the Year collided with one excited spectator who never saw Clark coming. Onlookers quickly rushed to Clark’s assistance, and thankfully she’s okay.
