John Winston Creachbaum II, affectionately know as “the Goon” by his sister, Sally, passed away at University of Cincinnati Hospital on February 4, 2024. He was 70 years old. John was born to Judith Anne Leever Creachbaum and John Winston Creachbaum (Jack) on July 6, 1953, in Columbus, Ohio. John spent his youth and young adulthood on the family farm, located in Sabina and Greenfield, Ohio. As the oldest of siblings and cousins, he was the trusted leader of an incorrigible band of misfits that included cousins, Tommy, Joy, Pam, Julie, and Stevie, as well as his little sister, Sally. They followed his lead with a fierce loyalty and blind devotion that often resulted in mayhem, physical injury, and sadly, corporal punishment. He was a graduate of North High School, in Columbus, Ohio, class of 1971. In 1999, John moved to Ripley, Ohio, and met the love of his life, Maribeth. Over the next 25 years, they built a life of devoted love. More times than not, though, you could find them getting good use out of the boxing gloves they were gifted as a wedding present by their dear friend, Mr. Paul Gifford. John worked for many years with another dear friend, Mr. Jerry Jones. Jerry and John secured a deep and lasting friendship and “boy was it a good party”. John’s brilliant sense of humor, elaborate story telling, and wit, made him friends with everyone he met. He was the kindest soul and would do anything for anybody. He was loved and will be missed by all the friends and family that knew and loved him. John was preceded in death by his Father, Jack, and his Mother, Judy. He is survived by his devoted wife, Maribeth; three children- Denny, Luke and Annie Creachbaum. Two bonus children- Shawna Slack (Shannon) and Matt Malott (Amber). One sister- Sarah (Sally) Creachbaum and several beloved grandchildren.
