A third suspect wanted in connection with the June 14 death of a man who was shot in an ambush at an apartment complex and found at a gas station on Columbus' Southeast Side was arrested Thursday in Ross County.

Caleb Elijah Johnson, 26, of Columbus' Southeast Side, was arrested Thursday afternoon in Chillicothe and is being held at the Ross County Jail, according to county jail records. He has been charged by Columbus police with premeditated aggravated murder and multiple counts of felonious assault with a weapon in the ambush and shooting death of 25-year-old Jahaan Harris, Franklin County court records show.

Johnson will be returned to Columbus to face those charges. He is the third suspect arrested in connection with the death of Harris as Columbus police homicide detectives continue to investigate the fatal shooting.

Danielle Hardy, 35, of the city's West Side, was arrested on June 20 and has been charged with murder and multiple counts of felonious assault. D'Angelo Gravely, 28, was arrested the same day he was indicted on June 21 and is also charged with murder, multiple counts of attempted murder, and multiple counts of felonious assault.

According to a probable cause affidavit filed by Columbus police, Johnson coordinated with Hardy, Gravely, and other individuals in the early hours of June 14 to follow Harris and others in his group walking from the 2600 block of Noe-Bixby Road onto Refugee Road. The trio followed Harris and the group through the Amberly Square Apartments when they opened fire on the group, shooting Harris in his upper back.

Police responding to a report of a shooting at 1:40 a.m. found Harris with gunshot wounds at a nearby Sunoco gas station on Noe-Bixby Road at the intersection with Refugee Road.

Madison Township fire medics transported Harris to Mount Carmel East Hospital, where he died at 2:31 a.m. from his injuries.

An arraignment date for Johnson has not been set yet, according to court records. A preliminary hearing for Hardy is scheduled for Friday at 9 a.m., and Gravely's preliminary hearing is scheduled for July 1.
