Smash Burger Food Truck Announces Its Opening a Brick and Mortar in Brewery District

As reported on the website 614Now , popular food truck Smash Buddies will open its first brick and mortar at 460 S Front St, in the Brewery District. The restaurant will feature the core menu of smash burgers that fans of the food truck will recognize.

Owned and operated by friends and Army veterans Jared France and Kole Nuehs, who moved to Ohio from the Pacific Northwest in 2022, and launched the food truck in June 2023. One year later, Smash Buddies has quickly gained a following from the Columbus community.

What Now Columbus spoke with Nuehs, who shared that originally, opening a brick and mortar was something they thought would happen a bit further down the road, but when the opportunity to be part of the Brewery District came about, they couldn’t pass it up.

“We’re super excited about the area. In talking to people about the history behind the Brewery District, we knew we wanted to be a part of its revitalization.”

The burger concept will operate out of a historic building that dates back to the 1890s, with the core menu consisting of smash burgers topped with cheese, the eatery’s proprietary sauce and optional grilled onions, along with the smash burger grilled cheese. Rotating and specialty burgers will also land on the menu, along with cans of domestic beers and wines.

When it comes to the vibe of the space, guests can expect the 80s theme with the purple and teal colors the brand established with its food truck. Nuehs said the entryway has a lot of windows that are reminiscent of a London phone booth, and to go along with the brand colors, the entryway will be painted purple.

Stay tuned to find out if there may be other unique decor features, since the burger concept plans to unveil some of the buildout process on social media.
