Ohio State was in the mix to land another elite recruit and one of the best players in the country but they fell just short.

Dakorien Moore was committed to LSU until May, then reopened his recruitment and visited four different schools. Moore picked Oregon, a school that is putting together quite the class out in Eugene.

Last cycle, the Buckeyes got the top wideout in Jeremiah Smith and had been interested in making it happen two years straight. That doesn’t happen and the Duncanville, Texas native will be going to Oregon.

Ohio State hosted Moore for his first official visit at the end of May . After that visit, it was off to LSU, Texas, and Oregon for official visits. The 5-foot-11 Moore is quite the playmaker at wide receiver and could have a very bright college ceiling in an Oregon offense that is really building up. Moore is a player that has the NFL written all over him.

Thanks to getting Smith last year, the Buckeyes are in good shape and still have brought in a nice class. Quincy Porter is a top 50 player in the class and Brian Hartline is a big fan of De’Zie Jones, another four-star wideout who is committed. Ohio State believes they may have found a hidden gem in Bodpegn Miller.

Still, the Buckeyes are recruiting Jaime Ffrench, Phillip Bell, are Daylen McCutcheon. It would not be a durk due for Ohio State to add another wide receiver to round out the class.

Moore committing elsewhere was not a surprise and it won’t hurt. Ohio State has developed wideouts at a high rate lately and should continue to as long as Hartline is running the unit.

No good news or bad news in recruiting today, we are back to enjoying Independence Day. Ohio State’s next great chance at landing a top talent will be on July 6 .
