A New Speakeasy is Coming to the Brewery District

As detailed in a recent article , a new speakeasy concept will open in the Brewery District at 460 S Front St. Entrance to the speakeasy will be gained through a hidden, undisclosed door located inside the burger restaurant Smash Buddies. Although access to the new speakeasy will be gained through the burger eatery, the concept will not be operated by Smash Buddies, but rather by a separate owner, Jesse “JP” Patterson.

Patterson tells What Now Columbus that he is not ready to share the name of the new concept at this time, but he expects to open the establishment during the same early August timeframe that the burger concept is set to launch.

When it comes to the concept’s business model, Patterson said the establishment will operate on a private membership basis, with membership being capped at 50 people and once membership is full, a waitlist will be enacted.

Although it won’t be open to the public, members will be allowed to bring up to two guests with them on a visit to the speakeasy. Members can expect an experience that will include private events and tastings, as well as dinners, an innovative cocktail list, theme events and live music, all in a modern, casual environment.

“Our focus is on being a service driven business,” said Patterson, a mixologist with 20 years of experience in the industry.

In addition to the cocktails, members can expect a bourbon and beer selection, with light bites and appetizers and members are welcome to get food from Smash Buddies.
