Sorry, Ohio State fans. Burreaux is an LSU Tiger. Obviously after he had arguably the greatest season in college football history in 2019, everybody wanted to claim Joe Burrow. The quarterback led the LSU Tigers to the national championship and an undefeated season, winning the Heisman Trophy before being drafted #1 overall by the Cincinnati Bengals. It's been a little bit of a mixed bag for Burrow since joining the Bengals: His rookie season, he tore his ACL and missed the second half of the season before returning in 2021 to lead his team to the Super Bowl against the Los Angeles Rams. In 2022, the Bengals lost to the eventual-champion Kansas City Chiefs in the playoffs, but in 2023 Burrow was once again injured midway through the season and ended up missing the final 7 games of the year. Regardless, Burrow is still arguably one of the top quarterbacks in the league. And as a native of Ohio playing for his home state team, he's a source of pride for the Buckeye State - although Ohio State fans who try to claim him as one of their own might want to hold their horses. Burrow spent three years at Ohio State before transferring to LSU. He redshirted his freshman year, and served as the backup to J.T. Barrett for two years before opting to transfer when Dwayne Haskins was named the starting quarterback for the 2018 seasons. During his football career at Ohio State, Burrow completed 29 of 39 passes for 287 yards and 2 touchdowns, and he earned his degree from the school in Columbus after graduating in three years. But he considers himself an LSU Tiger. During an appearance on the Barstool Sports podcast Pardon My Take, Burrow was asked what he had to say to Ohio State fans who try to claim him as one of their own:
"I didn't play football there. I mean, I practiced football there. Did a lot of practicing and lifting and running. I graduated. I usually tell people that I went to school at Ohio State and I played football at LSU. I got a lot better from practicing at Ohio State but I didn't get to play, so I don't really say that I played there." Sounds like a good answer to me.
