The College Football 25 ratings continue to be released and leaked as the game nears its drop date next week. On Thursday, Ohio State freshman wide receiver Jeremiah Smith's rating became public. If expectations weren't already high for the nation's top recruit in the 2024 class, his rating only reinforces what's to come.

Jeremiah Smith College Football 25 Rating Announced

The universal top recruit of this last class landed in Ohio State as the heir to Marvin Harrison Jr.'s throne. With Harrison now in the NFL, the 6-foot-3, 215-pounder has taken little time to light The Horseshoe on fire. According to every beat writer and public statement we've seen, Smith will be an immediate star.

The Hollywood, Florida product is the cousin of Seattle Seahawks QB Geno Smith, and those great genes have led to an explosive skill set. Known as a hard worker with an NFL body already, it's easy to project Smith as a potential first-round pick as soon as the 2027 NFL Draft arrives.

On Thursday, On3's Hayes Fawcett shared Smith's 84 overall rating in College Football 25. This should have Smith has the WR2 for the Buckeyes in the game above Carnell Tate and below Emeka Egbuka.

Although it's hard to find old roster information at this point about the old NCAA video game franchise, Smith stacks up with past top overall recruits. For example, former Ole Miss star Robert Nkemdiche was the lone 84 overall in NCAA 2014. Laquon Treadwell and Jeremy Castro were 83s. 25 total freshmen were at or above 80 overall.

The hype around Smith seems absolutely justified. One Buckeyes reporter I talked to recently told me that if his rating was only based on what they'd seen in practice, he might be the top receiver in the game and into the 90s. Obviously, we have to see it on Saturdays to believe it, but Buckeye nation should be as excited for Smith as any frosh to hit campus.
