COLUMBUS, Ohio ( WCMH ) – A restaurant known for its dry-aged steaks with over 70 locations across the country will soon open its doors in central Ohio.

The Capital Grille is scheduled to open at 1827 Olentangy River Road in the University View neighborhood on July 28. Offering steak, seafood and wine, the opening will mark the eatery’s first spot in central Ohio and third in the state, with restaurants in Cincinnati and Lyndhurst.

The steakhouse’s new location is the former home of Champps Kitchen + Bar, which closed in February 2022 after over two decades of business.

The restaurant’s steaks are dry-aged in-house for 18 to 24 days and hand cut daily by a butcher. Popular menu items include the Dry Aged Bone-in NY Strip with Shallot Butter as well as the Sliced Filet Mignon with Cipollini Onions, Wild Mushrooms and Fig Essence, according to the restaurant.

The Capital Grille features a list of more than 350 wines, with options the restaurant says are rarely offered by the glass, including library vintages and “highly sought after” limited bottlings. The 10,597-square-foot restaurant features chrome lions, an “expansive” wine cellar and a wall of clocks, as well as a lounge and four private spaces for events, according to a press release.

The steakhouse, founded in Providence, Rhode Island in 1990, has over 70 locations across 29 states, according to its website. The Capital Grille is part of the Darden Restaurants group, a multi-brand restaurant operator, which includes brands like Olive Garden, LongHorn Steakhouse and The Capital Burger.

The restaurant will be open for dinner Sunday through Thursday from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturday from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. It will also serve lunch Monday through Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. The restaurant said reservations are recommended but not required.
