    Man 'armed with knives' shot dead by police beside Republican National Convention

    A young man, believed to be in his early 20s, was shot dead by police officers in Columbus, Ohio, just a mile away from the Republican National Convention centre , according to multiple law enforcement sources.

    The man, who was reportedly armed with knive s, was shot and killed by Columbus Police who were called into town for the RNC. Despite attempts to perform CPR, the man died at the scene, reporters on the ground have said.

    While authorities suspect the incident is unrelated to the RNC, it remains unclear. This comes just three days after an alleged assassination attempt on Donald Trump during a campaign rally in Butler County, Pennsylvania .

    The Secret Service and Homeland Security will be assisting in the investigation of the shooting, which took place outside the MLK Community Center, about 20-30 minutes away from the RNC.

    Capitol Police and Homeland Security were initially on the scene but left shortly after, according to live reports from journalists on the ground, reports the Express US .

    An eyewitness living nearby told the press that he heard the shots and believes there was an argument between two individuals that escalated, adding that one was carrying a weapon. The eyewitness said that upon arrival, the police told him to drop it, but instead he reached for it.

    The Riot Squad turned up armed with tear gas and masks, sparking outrage among the community. Locals were heard furiously questioning, "why the fuck are you here" and other similar phrases.

    One bystander was noted saying "the natives are restless" as he walked back and forth in front of visibly agitated horses.

    An onlooker named Emmanuel recounted to journalists that two local men were having what he termed an 'About To' fight, suggesting that "we (the neighborhood) would've handled it" if the police hadn't intervened and started firing.

    Upon the arrival of the riot squad equipped with tear gas and masks, residents were forced to disperse.

    Emmanuel reported that irate locals confronted the officers with questions like "Why are you here? ".

    Journalists at the scene also overheard a local comment "The natives are restless" while pacing in front of anxious horses.
