VP pick and Ohio State alum JD Vance responds to 'O-H-I-0,' 'Let's go Blue' chants at RNC

This November, a competition between a blue team and a red team will change this nation forever.

The Ohio State versus Michigan game, of course.

There is, though, another red versus blue competition happening earlier in the month: the 2024 Presidential election.

One of this competition's key players, Republican vice-presidential pick J.D. Vance, invoked the Buckeye State's historic rivalry with the mitten shaped state up north during his speech at the Republican National Convention Wednesday.

As he took the stage, the Ohio delegation broke out into chants of "O-H-I-O", according to Dispatch reporter Haley BeMiller.

“We have to chill out with the Ohio love. We have to win Michigan, too," Vance said.

Later on in his speech, OSU's rivalry came up again.

"I left the Marines after four years and went to The Ohio State University," Vance said during his speech from the RNC main stage, as cheers break out, The Detroit Free Press reported.

"I am sorry, Michigan, I had to get that in there," he then said, smiling and laughing.

This prompted a "let's go blue" chant from the crowd, likely from the Michigan delegation and any other Wolverines fans in attendance.

"Come on, come on," Vance responded. "We have had enough political violence."
