    Biden weakened and compromised

Almost every Americans can recognize a very disturbing leadership crisis. It is unquestionably apparent that President Joe Biden is mentally impaired substantially.

His gaffes and mental lapses are not only embarrassing for any president, but our enemies see a leader who is incapable of making decisions with mental clarity.

Democrats are challenged to keep him in the forefront of the upcoming election and are struggling to replace him with a viable candidate.

More: Biden campaign insists he is staying in 2024 race even as more Dems call for him to exit

Their quest to remain in power is monumental and without limits. However, even with approximately six months remaining in his term of office, Biden appears weakened and compromised.

Whether he resigns or the 25th Amendment is invoked, it is time to force him to go, for the good of the country.

    Criminals being criminals

Re "How does Columbus compare to peer cities with police killings?" on July 17: The Dispatch sunk to a new low when it included the bold caption, “How does Columbus compare when it comes to police violence against citizens?” in which Bailey Gallion praises “Mapping Police Violence.” Did she investigate the backgrounds of those involved in “Mapping Police Violence?” Who funds them? Where are they located?

There is only one standard by which police officers are judged in use of force situations. The United States Supreme Court established the decision, not Bailey Gallion and others. In this decision, the court recognized that police officers are often called upon to act in stressful, chaotic, rapidly evolving, and life-threatening situations. The officer’s actions must be reasonable based on the information known to the officer in the circumstances, at the time of that action. Graham v. Connor (490 U.S. at 396).

More: Columbus police have killed more than 60 people since 2013, outpacing many peer cities

Gallion should report on the multitude of Columbus 2024 violent crimes, many resulting in death, committed by Columbus citizens. Give full backgrounds on all those people. Do they work? Prior arrests? How many have reoffended?

Bailey Gallion cannot report on citizens’ criminal behavior. Too much evidence of criminals being criminals.

Ignorance is strength in Trump world

More: GUILTY: 7 editorial cartoons about Donald Trump's conviction

    • A blackmailer of foreign governments to fabricate “evidence” against political opponents.
    • An elected official who schemed to overturn an election for the nation’s highest office.
    • A con man whose favorite targets are the fearful and uninformed.
    • A multi-millionaire who milks these targets to further enrich himself and his peers and to finance his civil and criminal trials.
    • The source of a fountain of countless lies and half-truths.
    • An instigator of hate against minorities and refugees.

Yet this man — who has never demonstrated a shred of charity, empathy, honesty, generosity, courtesy, or compassion — is lauded in a Republican convention speech and praised by prominent Christian religious figures as one who will "bring morality back to the White House."

    War is peace.

    Freedom is slavery.

    Ignorance is strength.

It’s no wonder so many people have abandoned a Christianity whose professed adherents support and encourage someone with this record to lead the nation as a representative of what we dare to call “our values."
