Ohio State’s Will Howard shares one thing that he is already tired of as a Buckeye

One thing is for certain about Columbus and football this fall, the pressure is on for big things to happen for the program. Ohio State returned a ton of their team while being heavy hitters in the transfer portal and that has them in a spot to contend for a National Championship.

No one is going to know the feeling of that pressure more than the coaching staff and players themselves. They can’t help but hear and see most of the stuff that the common fan does out there and how highly they are talked about.

Graduate transfer Will Howard hasn’t been in Columbus for a long time , just a few months. Still, Howard has grown to be tired with one thing in particular and it isn’t a bad thing for the Buckeyes.

“As we’ve been saying, we’re tired of hearing how talented we are and how many stars everyone has and all of these different things everyone is saying about us,” Howard explained at a recent NIL event, via 10TV’s Adam King. “We want to go out there and prove it.”

Howard is expected to be the starter for the Buckeyes despite not being officially named as such just yet. The former Kansas State standout has one year of eligibility left. It comes during the season when the Buckeyes need to end a Michigan win streak that has grown to three games against Ohio State.

“I feel like if you’re not going for a National Championship, then why are you doing it?” Howard questioned. “Especially at a program like this and we know that is the standard for Ohio State football. We know that expectations this year are very high because we got a lot of returning guys, a lot of older guys.”

After returning guys like Emeka Egbuka, TreVeyon Henderson, Jack Sawyer, J.T. Tuimoloau, Denzel Burke, and others that were draft eligible, the Buckeyes doubled up by adding Caleb Downs , Quinshon Judkins, and Julian Sayin to join Howard as transfer portal additions. It was the kind of offseason that hasn’t really been seen often over the years but was possible with this era of NIL we are in.

Ohio State won’t have to wait long to begin the quest to prove the hype was worth it. The Buckeyes begin their season on Aug. 31 against Akron.
