It's been a big year for gorillas at the Columbus Zoo.

Last month the zoo welcomed a new baby gorilla, the 35th born on its property. The baby is visible to visitors at an indoor viewing area in the Congo Expedition from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

But that's not the only piece of baby-related content making headlines for the zoo's gorillas. A TikTok user captured a video of a Columbus Zoo gorilla showing a visiting baby some love earlier this year.

In the video, which you can see above, a mother holds her infant near the glass of a gorilla exhibit. the gorilla watches the infant from behind the glass and kisses the glass near the infant's head.

According to World Wildlife Foundation and the International Union for Conservation and Nature, western lowland gorillas are critically endangered.

In 1956, the Columbus Zoo became the first zoo in the world to have a gorilla born in captivity. The facility has been has been recognized for its world-class gorilla breeding program as well as its gorilla fostering efforts.
