    Buckeyes men’s basketball 2024 nonconference schedule set

    COLUMBUS, Ohio ( WCMH ) — Ohio State men’s basketball has announced its full nonconference schedule to begin the season.

    As announced, the Buckeyes will open the season on Nov. 4 in Las Vegas against the newest team in the Southeastern Conference, Texas. Ohio State will then play its home opener at Value City Arena against Youngstown State on Nov. 11.

    Among other notable nonconference games include a trip to Texas A&M on Nov. 15, hosting Pittsburgh on Black Friday Nov. 29, and taking on Kentucky at Madison Square Garden in New York on Dec. 21 in the CBS Sports Classic.

    Ohio State 2024-25 nonconference schedule

    • Nov. 4 – vs Texas (Las Vegas)
    • Nov. 11 – vs Youngstown State
    • Nov. 15 – at Texas A&M
    • Nov. 19 – vs Evansville
    • Nov. 22 – vs Campbell
    • Nov. 25 – vs Green Bay
    • Nov. 29 – vs Pittsburgh
    • Dec. 17 – vs Valparaiso
    • Dec. 21 – vs Kentucky (New York)
    • Dec. 29 – vs Indiana State

    While the dates for the Big Ten schedule are not set, its allocation of opponents is. Ohio State will play all 17 conference opponents this year with its highlighted trips including two Los Angeles games at UCLA and USC.

    Home and away games : Indiana, Maryland, Nebraska

    Home games: Iowa, Michigan, Michigan State, Northwestern, Oregon, Rutgers, Washington

    Away games: Illinois, Minnesota, Penn State, Purdue, UCLA, USC, Wisconsin

    The Buckeyes finished Big Ten play in 2023-24 at 9-11 and, after starting conference play 4-10, coach Chris Holtmann was fired.

    His replacement, Jake Diebler, stepped in last season and led the Buckeyes to wins in five of their last six Big Ten games. The Buckeyes missed the NCAA tournament for a second consecutive season and reached an NIT quarterfinal, losing to Georgia at Value City Arena.
