The Ohio State Buckeyes have 39 Big Ten titles in college football, the second-most in conference history behind the Michigan Wolverines, who have 45. Since 2020, the Buckeyes have not played in the Big Ten Championship and are coming off a third straight loss to Michigan in 2024.

With all of the offseason additions that Ohio State made, there was one question mark that Greg McElroy pointed out in the latest edition of Always College Football .

Ohio State added stars like former Kansas State Wildcats quarterback Will Howard, former Alabama Crimson Tide safety Caleb Downs, and former Ole Miss Rebels running back Quinshon Judkins via the transfer portal.

However, McElroy was unsure about Ohio State's offensive line. McElroy clarified that while the offensive line could be a problem, he thought Ohio State could win without elite play there.

"...I look at the additions of Will Howard, Caleb Downs, Quinshon Judkins. Sure, I have some question marks about the offensive line, but I have question marks about the offensive line for a lot of folks," McElroy said. "That's why I'm not gonna hold it against Ohio State as much as other places because I think they can win despite not having an elite offensive line."

Ohio State allowed 23 sacks last season, the 10th-most in the Big Ten. Returning offensive line starters from last season include Donovan Jackson, Josh Fryar, Josh Simmons, and Carson Hinzman.

In 2024, the Ohio State offense will be run by two people: former UCLA Bruins head coach Chip Kelly will share offensive coordinator duties with former Buckeye wide receiver coach Brian Hartline this season.

Ohio State fans will expect a return to the top of the Big Ten in 2024 after the team has improved so much. The Buckeyes opens the year with the Akron Zips on Aug. 31.
