Netflix's "Love is Blind" now casting in Columbus

"Love Is Blind," the popular Netflix reality dating show and social experiment, is now casting in Columbus, according to a post by its production company Kinetic Content.

Why it matters: If Columbus is picked for a season, we'll be treated to lots of entertaining internet gossip as 30 lucky contestants become local celebrities.

How it works : Fifteen men and 15 women, all from the same metro area, are put into separate "pods" where they can talk to — but not see — their date. The goal is to fall in love and get engaged to be married without ever knowing what the other person looks like.

    • Then, the engaged couples meet in person, go on a trip with the other couples, and each duo moves to an apartment in the city for four weeks.
    • At the end, the couples either get married or reject each other at the altar.

What to know: The lengthy application includes questions like "Why do you think you are single?" and "Have you ever been judged in previous relationships for something superficial?"

    • Applicants must also submit all their social media handles.

Reality check: After four years and six completed seasons of the show since 2020, only nine of the 30 engaged couples got married and were still together, Variety reported in March .

    • And though "Love Is Blind" reportedly pays contestants around $1,000 per week, couples who get married don't receive any prize (other than love).
    • The seventh season, set in Washington, D.C. , is expected this fall.

😉 The bottom line: It's good to know the show's producers are listening to our requests .
