Starting Tuesday, dining out in Ohio will cost less thanks to the state's sales tax holiday .

Here's a look at some of the openings, closings and other happenings on the Columbus food scene this week.

Zammy's Vegan Kitchen and Pretentious Barrel House announce closings

Fans of Zammy's Vegan Kitchen in Worthington and Pretentious Barrel House on the Near East Side have a few days to sample their favorites one more time, as the two area institutions recently announced plans to close. Zammy's shared in a Facebook post that its last day will be either Friday or Saturday of this week. And Pretentious Barrel House, the city's first sour-only brewery that opened in 2017, announced plans to close on August 11 . The brewery will maintain regular hours until then, and plans to release a few more batches of beer while still open.

Food tax holiday at restaurants and fair food specials this Thursday

Diners looking for deals are in luck this week. The state of Ohio extended its annual summer sales tax holiday this year to span 10 days, and expanded it to include meals at restaurants. While alcohol is still subject to state sales tax, diners will get a small break on their bills beginning today through August 8. Meanwhile, food lovers can visit the Ohio State Fair this Thursday to take advantage of $3 samples of signature foods from each vendor.

Three Creeks Kitchen and Cocktails prepares to open in Gahanna

Joe Grundey, the founder of O'Toole's Irish Pub in downtown Gahanna, will be reopening the space this fall as a New American restaurant . Grundey is working in partnership with his daughter and alumni of some of Columbus' best known restaurants, including The Worthington Inn, Wolf's Ridge, Pistacia Vera and Cameron Mitchell Restaurants. Three Creeks will initially open for dinner only with a menu focused on steaks and seafood. Discounted drinks and appetizers will be offered during happy hour specials from 3 - 6 p.m. on weekdays.

See inside Columbus' newest steak house

The Capital Grille, a national chain of high-end steakhouses, opened its first Columbus location on Sunday . Located at 1827 Olentangy River Road in the former Champps space, the restaurant features an in-house butcher, a wine collection of over 350 bottles (with three sommeliers to assist guests with selections) and four private dining rooms. Steak is, of course, centered on the menu; the Kona-coffee crusted New York strip sounds particularly unique.
