The Ohio State Buckeyes are widely regarded as one of the top teams in the country this season. Many believe the Buckeyes have what it takes to secure a national championship.

ESPN's Paul Finebaum is also high on the Buckeyes, but he has one concern heading into the season. That concern revolves around the new starting quarterback, Will Howard, who is taking over from last year's starter, Kyle McCord, following McCord's transfer to Syracuse.

"I think Will Howard is the biggest question mark on that team," Finebaum said. "What experts tell me is there are so many great wide receivers. There are so many great running backs. There is such a great offensive line that it won't make a difference. But I don't believe that. I think you still have to have a good quarterback."

Howard has completed only 58.8 percent of his passes for 5,786 yards, 48 touchdowns and 25 interceptions in four seasons. However, his greatest strength might be his running ability. Last season, Howard ran for 351 yards on 4.3 yards per carry and scored nine touchdowns.

McCord rushed for -65 yards and zero touchdowns last season. He has only had one season with positive rushing yards, which was in limited action in 2022 when he gained four yards. However, McCord is the more accomplished passer. He has completed 66.5 percent of his passes for 3,776 yards, 27 touchdowns and only eight interceptions in three seasons, only one of which he started.

That could be why Finebaum feels Howard is the biggest question mark for the Buckeyes.
