COLUMBUS, Ohio ( WCMH ) – A nationwide campaign to help animals find a forever home is returning to a local shelter for two days.

The Franklin County Dog Shelter and Adoption Center is holding its annual Clear the Shelters Sleepover event Thursday and Friday. The campaign allows anyone to take a dog out of the shelter for a sleepover at their home. Whether you want to adopt or not, the opportunity allows the dogs to stay in a different environment while interacting with others for a couple of days.

According to the shelter, all sleepover supplies will be provided for each host who participates. All the hosts need to provide is a “comfy place to rest” and “lots of love.”

If a host wants to adopt, the shelter noted that adoptions can be completed over the phone later. The shelter will also allow hosts to extend their sleepover time as well.

Sleepover pickups will be at the shelter at 4340 Tamarack Boulevard from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday and Friday and returns will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday. The shelter sleepover event is on a first-come, first-served basis.
