State has already tied record for tornadoes in a year
According to a report from Axios Columbus, Ohio has already tied the record for most tornadoes in a year and it’s only June. The Axios report indicates the state has experienced 62 tornadoes in 2024, matching the record set in 1992. Last year saw 60 tornadoes in Ohio according to the National Weather Service’s Wilmington, Ohio office.

COLUMBUS, Ohio — The last weekend of June was a quiet one in the Short North, a welcomed occurrence for the people living and working in the neighborhood. New safety measures took effect following the previous weekend’s mass shooting that sent 10 people to the hospital. Measures included more uniformed and plain-clothes officers, more mobile security cameras and a city-wide curfew for 13-18 year olds. Columbus Mayor Andrew Ginther has said these measures will remain until further notice.

Man flashes gun after firefighters told him not to drive over hoses, fire official says
An unknown man flashed a gun during a confrontation with firefighters at a mobile home fire in Franklin Township Monday morning, according to the Columbus Division of Fire. Firefighters received a call about 8:30 a.m. about the blaze at a home in the Avalon Mobile Home Park located in the 1100 block of Geneva Avenue, Battalion Chief Jeff Geitter said.
