Episode 16 continues to show the arrival of Momiji and the rest of the Tengus. It then goes back to when Benimaru and Albis went to the Tengus village to request permission for the highway construction. However, Momiji rejected the offer after hearing they would need to drill under their mountains.

The village chief accepted the proposal, stating that Benimaru must marry her daughter, Momiji. The episode reveals that Kaede was once in a relationship with Hakuro. Benimaru asks for more time, promising to give an answer later. The episode returns to the present as Momiji pays her respects to Rimuru.

However, the latter notices hesitation from her. Momiji tells him that she is worried that Fray will use her people as subordinates against Thalion, but Rimuru assures her that Fray will not harm them. Later, she reunites with Hakuro, who had taught her how to wield a sword. However, their conversation is cut short as Albis challenges Momiji to fight for the right to be Benimaru’s wife. Momiji accepts the challenge. The episode ends with Shion and Shuna proposing they fight over Rimuru’s heart.
