Ke Huy Quan has joined the cast of Zootopia 2.

Zootopia 2 is the upcoming sequel to Disney’s Zootopia, which was released in theaters in 2016. The film will see Ginnifer Goodwin and Jason Bateman reprise their respective roles as Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde.

At the D23 Disney Entertainment Showcase on Friday, August 9, 2024, it was announced that Quan has now joined the cast of the movie.

Who is Ke Huy Quan playing in Zootopia 2?

Quan will voice a character named Gary, a snake who is a “wanted” reptile.

“Now, reptiles have a shady past,” Goodwin said of Quan’s character, via Deadline. She added that Gary is “creepy, slithery, [and] highly venomous” and that he could send the team “on a whole new mission.”

Additionally, Fortune Feimster (The Mindy Project, Office Christmas Party) will voice a beaver named Nibbles in the forthcoming animated sequel.

Plot details for Zootopia 2 remain under wraps at this time. The movie is directed and written by Jared Bush, while Yvett Merino will serve as a producer.

Quan is known for playing Short Round in 1984’s Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom and Data in 1985’s The Goonies. He won an Academy Award for his performance in 2022’s Everything Everywhere All at Once and then went on to play O.B. in the second season of Marvel’s Loki series. He also recently voiced Han in 2024’s The Electric State, while he’ll soon be seen in Anthony and Joe Russo’s The Electric State and Jonathan Eusebio’s With Love.

The original Zootopia was a massive hit for Disney, as it brought in approximately $1.025 billion at the global box office off an estimated $150 million budget. A television spin-off series titled Zootopia+ premiered on Disney+ in November 2022.

Zootopia 2 will be released in United States theaters on November 26, 2025. Zootopia, meanwhile, is now streaming on Disney+.
