Netflix’s new 2024 additions of cult documentaries look into a few chilling cases, including the infamous 7M TikTok Cult. A few of these latest additions include The Doomsday Cult of Antares de la Luz, Dancing for the Devil: The 7M TikTok Cult, and Raël: The Alien Prophet. The streaming giant’s existing cult documentaries library also includes hits such as Wild Wild Country, Keep Sweet: Pray and Obey, and more.

Dancing for the Devil: The 7M TikTok Cult

Netflix’s recent hit Dancing for the Devil: The 7M TikTok Cult is one of the new 2024 cult documentaries. The three-part limited series examines the allegations surrounding the 7M Films talent management company and its founder, Robert Shinn. The docuseries also looks into 7M’s alleged association with the Shekinah Church and claims that Shinn, who is a pastor and the founder of the Church, runs a religious cult.

At the center of the 7M TikTok Cult documentary are Melanie Wilking and her sister Miranda (now Derrick). Miranda and her husband, James (BDash) Derrick, have been involved with the 7M TikTok talent management company. Reportedly, Melanie and her parents accused 7M of being a dance cult in a 2022 Instagram video. They revealed that Miranda’s relationship with them soured after she joined the agency.

Dancing for the Devil is among Netflix’s highly-viewed new cult documentaries and features interviews with other former members of 7M. These individuals have accused Robert Shinn of financial and sexual coercion. Some even called 7M “a cult operating under the disguise of a religious institution.” However, Shinn has denied all allegations.

The documentary series premiered in May 2024 and is now streaming on Netflix.

The Doomsday Cult of Antares de la Luz

The Doomsday Cult of Antares de la Luz is another of Netflix’s new cult documentaries in 2024. The film follows the Chilean cult and its leader, Ramón Gustavo Castillo Gaete. According to The Indian Express , Ramón is infamously known as Antares de la Luz and claimed to be God until his ultimate downfall. The documentary comprises interviews with former members, journalists, investigative journalist Verónica Foxley, and authorities.

Reportedly, the documentary explores the inception of The Doomsday Cult of Antares de la Luz and their leader’s claims of the second coming of Jesus. Ramón Gustavo Castillo Gaete’s cult initially focused on mild meditation before taking on a biblical notion. The cult’s activities eventually resulted in the murder of a child under Ramón’s leadership. The film is now streaming on Netflix.

    Raël: The Alien Prophet

Similar to other shocking cult documentaries on Netflix, this new film follows French sportswriter and racing driver Claude Vorilhon. Digital Spy reported that Vorilhon, now known as Raël, received critical media attention after claiming to be an alien prophet. The four-part series is now one of the most viewed documentaries on the streaming service. Raël, now 77, also started the Raëlian movement in the 1970s. The French government believed the movement, dubbed UFO religion, was a cult.

The documentary shows Raël’s claims that he made on live television in France. He alleged that aliens had contacted him and that he traveled to another planet in their UFOs multiple times. Per Raël’s teachings, he claims Elohim, which means “those who came from sky,” are small green aliens who created life on Earth some 25,000 years ago. According to Manchester Evening News , his teachings suggest these aliens cloned themselves to create humans.

Raël’s movement has grown globally across countries with multiple Raëlian leaders, encouraging sexual liberation and exploration. The cult offers sexual teachings to children as young as five. The controversial leader, who now lives in Japan, has faced criticism for his cult’s questionable activities and practices by governments in many countries.

These new 2024 cult documentaries are now streaming on Netflix.
