Former AEW Champion has shared his thoughts on John Cena wrestling outside of WWE. John Cena, who has been the face of the promotion for over a decade, has represented the promotion as its poster boy for years. His impact is still felt today, even though he has become a part-timer due to his Hollywood schedule.

In July, at WWE Money in the Bank, John Cena revealed that he will retire from in-ring competition with WWE in 2025. Cena will begin a year-long farewell tour, starting with the historic first episode of Raw on Netflix in January 2025. Fans will have the chance to see him compete in the Royal Rumble and Elimination Chamber before his final match at WrestleMania 41. He will wrestle throughout 2025, making 30–40 appearances from January to December.

John Cena, who has spent his entire wrestling career inside a WWE ring, recently received comments from his former rival Chris Jericho. Jericho mentioned that he can’t imagine Cena wrestling outside of WWE.

Jericho and Cena have faced off multiple times in their careers. Their notable rivalry in 2005 saw Jericho challenge Cena for the WWE Championship at SummerSlam. Additionally, in 2008, Cena returned from injury to challenge Jericho for the World Heavyweight Championship at the Survivor Series.

Former AEW World Champion Chris Jericho recently appeared on Sports Illustrated. He expressed his belief that Cena won’t join WWE’s competition, stating that Cena is a true WWE person. Jericho would be surprised if Cena ever worked outside WWE. He also congratulated Cena on his remarkable career.

He stated, “John is a WWE man through and through. I would be so surprised if he ever did anything outside of WWE. Congratulations to him on his incredible career. I loved our matches. It’s not like he’s riding off into the sunset–he has a lot of projects going on, and I wish him all the best.”

With 2025 still a few months away, fans are already speculating about who could be John Cena’s final opponent in WWE. Names like The Rock, Randy Orton, and Bron Breakker are circulating among fans as potential contenders.
