Chinese Drama Are You the One Episode 2 Recap & Spoilers

The ongoing costume Chinese drama Are You the One, starring Zhang Wanyi and Wang Churan, released its first set of episodes on Monday, August 12, 2024. Episode two focuses on the couple starting to bond.

In this episode, Liu Mian Tang (Wang Churan) disciplines some thugs who were following her around. Her martial arts prowess becomes a topic of discussion in the town. After Cui Xing Zhou (Zhang Wanyi) comes to know about it, he decides to pay her a visit to interrogate her. As soon as he sees Mian Tang in her sultry attire, his heart starts to beat fast.

Mian Tang hands him an indictment she has written to the lord of Huiyang. He is the nephew of the garrison and has the power to punish the guilty. But Xing Zhou convinces her that it is better to keep silent. Since she hurt the man, she will have to pay for his medicine if the truth comes out.

Next, he asks her from where she has learned to do acupuncture using silver needles. To which she answers that it was physician Zhou who taught him. Xing Zhou’s surprise doubles when she hands him a book of assassinations with gory details. Mian Tang continues to act like a dutiful wife. She shows him the deeds she prepared for her shop and tax documents. She starts to get suspicious when Xing Zhou fails to recognize a particular porcelain vessel. Mian Tang asks him if he really is a porcelain salesman.

Xing Zhou panics and tells her that he is only a dandy and the real business is handled by her. But since Mian Tang has forgotten her skills, his business has suffered major losses. Nanny Li shows her land deeds that have Mian Tang’s private seal. Mian Tang feels bad for her husband, and she takes him in her embrace to console him.

As they lay in bed side by side, Mian Tang asks him why he doesn’t have a concubine or secondary wife. Xing Zhou assures her that he is content with her. He can see that Mian Tang is starting to get suspicious. He is hellbent on catching Lu Wen using Mian Tang.

The next morning, Mian Tang insists that Xing Zhou visit Lord Huiyang and submit her complaint. Xing Zhou tries to divert her attention, but Mian Tang is not ready to listen to him. She asks if the Lord will take the official’s side like an unjust person. Her remark makes Xing Zhou angry.

Further into the episode, Xing Zhou detains Zhao Quan’s gatekeeper, Wang. He has found out that General Shi Yikuan of Qingzhou has planted some spies in Zhenzhou. He wants to compete with Xing Zhou over bandit suppression. Unlike other lords, Xing Zhou spares them from physical torture. He wants them to relay a message to the general. He is suspicious that Mian Tang only pretends to have amnesia but, in reality, she is here to spy on Xing Zhou.

Mian Tang questions Xing Zhou’s integrity as a husband. She calls him distant and aloof. She emphasizes that they don’t appear as a normal couple. Instead of comforting Mian Tang, he questioned her the entire night. Furthermore, he leaves every night under the pretext of playing Go. But when Mian Tang checked with the owner of the Go club, he confirmed that he had never seen Cui Xing Zhou. Xing Zhou apologizes for not being romantic. He promises to treat her better.
